It's been a busy, productive, amazing month. Christmas was upon us before we knew it. In the days before the holiday, we had a lovely luncheon with the other senior couples in our mission, provided by our mission president and his wife, the Kerrs. We laughed and chatted and shared impressions of our mission so far and things that we loved or had surprised us. Stone fences (love), stone buildings (love) history everywhere (love) kind people (super love). Surprises included store background music (60's/70's soft rock) parking on the sidewalks and parking in any direction, on either side of the street. There seem to be few accidents, probably because everyone drives slowly out of necessity. The roads are narrow and winding and often bordered by stone fences. |

We shared two wonderful Christmas dinners, both family affairs, and both so special and meaningful in their own ways. We are so grateful for the kindness and generocity of the people we have met here.

We have been busy with our service, trying to help the various wards and the Family History/ FamilySearch people in their own callings. I have learned to be fairly organized over the years, although it's definitely not a natural state. This calling is challenging our skills. We want so much to be what everyone needs and are trying really hard to keep up with all of the correspondence, but juggling so many things in the air at once - let's just say we are learning.
Along with Family History and everything else, we've had time to enjoy this beautiful country and it's equally lovely people and culture. |

We had a great night out in Leeds with two of the other senior missionary couples. This restaurant is called the 'Giggling Squid'. Then we went to what is called a Panto. It is a musical review combined with a melodrama where you boo and hiss at the bad guys and cheer the good guys and the whole audience gets involved. Super fun! |

Yesterday, we decided to explore the Yorkshire Dales for a bit. We headed for Wensleydale, home of the best cheese ever! Had a fabulous tour, ate way too much cheese and reveled in the beauty that surrounded us. You may recognize the Alderson farm from 'All Creatures Great and Small'. Gary recognized it immediately as we rounded a bend. Just spectacular!
I am loving your blog. Thank you for sharing your mission with all of us. I am sure you are a fabulous addition to the ward there. XOXOXO
